Our Team
Prof. Hedgehog
An Oxford-educated British hedgehog who teaches English at Puttzington Middle. Prof. is fairly new at teaching middle school students (he formerly taught at his almamater). He dresses in formal attire and is fond of a bowler hat and a walking stick. He loves a good book, a hot cup of tea, and a rainy day. He has traveled the world and has many interesting stories.
Maripaz Mapache:
Maripaz is a racoon who teaches art at Puttzington Middle. Maripaz speaks fluent Spanish (her family is of Mexican descent). Her favorite artist is not Frida Kahlo (she prefers the Impressionists). She tends to be a bit of a night owl and often needs the drink mate in the morning (Maripaz’s great-grandmother was from Argentina). She loves gardening, painting, and doing Pilates.
Captain Cringeworthy:
the owner of Puttz-Puttz Golf, his real name is unknown. The truth is, he was an actual pirate put under a magical slumber for 300 years and has now just awoken, but nobody knows that...yet. He also has a side gig as the mascot for the Puttzington Middle School Pirates because he really looks the part. He is in the slow, painful process of learning to deal with modernity (and hygiene).
DJ Lynxy Lu:
a Bavarian DJ, her two favorite composers are Daft Punk and Mozart. If there’s a birthday, wedding, or school dance that needs a DJ, she is the one to call, though often her customers tell her to take it down a couple notches. She occasionally serves as a substitute teacher for the music dept. at Puttzington Middle.
Principal Fiona Fox:
a competent principal who struggles to deal with her incompetent and self-important vice-principal, who happens to be the School Superintendent’s nephew. Fiona studied at Oxford, which is how she knows Prof. Hedgehog. While at a Oxford she was on both the fencing and rowing teams, though she is quite modest and never brings it up. She also plays a mean ukulele, though never in front of the students.
Vice-Principal Mac :
a highly-incompetent Vice Principal/Athletic Director at the middle school, he really likes to throw his weight around. He usually creates messes for teachers and students alike. He only got the job because his uncle is the School Superintendent and his mother sits on both the city council and school board. Mac is big on athletics and sees academics as a necessary evil. He cannot recall the last book he read.
Barry Badger:
Barry is a badger who teaches science at Puttzington Middle. Despite being a science teacher, Barry is super athletic, and his past jobs include being a bodyguard, a stuntman, and a firefighter. One of Barry’s hobbies is baking—since he sees it not as an art but as a science.
Amber Chan:
Student Council president and shooting guard for the girls’ basketball team, Amber has taken it upon herself to help the newly-arrived Prof. Hedgehog learn his way around the schoo.l She gets really good grades...except in math. She plays classical piano but longs to play the drums.
Skyler Squirrel (squirrel):
an extremely popular student and head cheerleader. She is addicted to her phone and really cares what people think about her, but despite this, she harbors a secret desire to be an engineer, though her mother thinks she should be an influencer.
Pancho:
a bit of an eccentric, Pancho hails from Costa Rica and is a self-described “bard.” One can often see him walking through town, singing and plucking his lyre (it’s always missing two or three strings). While short on talent, Pancho is enthusiastic about his calling, and is always wandering around Puttzinton looking for material he can write and sing about. Some of his work includes, “The Ballad of the Fender-Bender,” “The Tragedy of the Expired Coupon at Pizza Palace” and “The Saga of My Landlord and the Leaky Faucet.”
Matt Wilson :
a fairly normal 7th grader, Steve is big on video games and comic books but on homework...not so much. He tried out for the football team, but unlike his classmate, Zander, he did not make the cut. He is, however, fairly talented at darts, and he and Prof. Hedgehog have had some epic matches.
Zander Von Wolfendorf IV (wolf):
despite the strange name, Zander is a popular jock at the school (football and baseball). While not an all-out bully, he can be very intimidating sometimes. He is not exactly academically-inclined, though he gets good grades when he tries. Interesting fact: Zander is super-squeamish and once fainted when the biology class was discussing the digestive system.
